A clear, comprehensive look at what's going on — and what to do next. We offer thoughtful psychiatric evaluations in Miami, FL and via secure telepsychiatry across Florida, in both English and Spanish.

What Is a Psychiatric Evaluation?

A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive review of your mental health. It's the foundation of any treatment plan — the conversation that clarifies what's going on and what kind of care would help most.

You don't need to have a diagnosis to schedule one. Many patients just want answers: is this anxiety? is this ADHD? do I need medication, therapy, or both?

What We Cover During the Visit

An initial evaluation lasts 45–60 minutes. We cover:

At the end of the visit, we walk through what's going on, the recommended next steps, and a plan that makes sense for you.

Common Reasons People Seek an Evaluation

Some of the most common reasons to schedule an evaluation include:

After Your Evaluation

Your plan might include medication management, a referral to therapy, lifestyle recommendations, or some combination. If medication is a fit, we discuss it openly — including options, side effects, and what to expect.

You don't have to commit to anything at your first visit. Some patients leave with a prescription; others prefer to consider their options before deciding. Either is fine.

In-Person and Telepsychiatry

Psychiatric evaluations are available in person at our Miami office or via secure telepsychiatry from anywhere in Florida. Both formats are equally effective for most people.

About Your Provider

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral for a psychiatric evaluation?

No. You can schedule directly. Most insurance plans do not require a referral.

How long does the first appointment take?

Initial evaluations are 45–60 minutes. We take the time to understand your full picture before recommending anything.

Will I leave with a diagnosis?

In many cases, yes — but not always after one visit. Some concerns require follow-up before a clear diagnosis is appropriate. We're transparent about what we know and don't know.

Will I be prescribed medication?

Only if it's clinically appropriate and you're comfortable with that step. Medication is one option among several — and we never push it.

Can the evaluation be done in Spanish?

Yes. All evaluations are fully available in English and Spanish.

How soon can I be seen?

We often have appointments available within the week. Contact our office to find the earliest opening.
